Spicy Roots- Germany

It was a bunch of young party animals who brought the Caribbean style of Ska, Ragga and Soul into the dancefloors and everyday life of their little town Schwieberdingen in the south of Germany. In 1994 some music addicted youngsters came together to celebrate this feeling with their own craft. Spicy Roots were born - complete with a three-piece horn section, a compact rhythm section and a most charismatic front man!

Their birth was quickly followed by small concerts in the vicinity, and the next step were shows with reknown artists such as Laurel Aitken, Judge Dread, Desmond Dekker, Bad Manners, Hotknives, Mr. Review and Dr. Ring-Ding & the Senior Allstars.

Their first 6-track CD "Export" was released in 1997 and got enthusiastic reactions. Finally in 2001 followed their debut album "One More" (Elmo/Grover Records) and offered 12 catchy tunes with unforgettable songs like "Coconut", "Do you know", "One more", "Love like music", "Tin Tin´s bar" etc. The response to the record was extremely positive, particularly the fans and the audiences everywhere loved the combination of Jamaivcan style, poppy melodies and fun.

Their tours extended, amongst others they played even at the Surffestival in Torbole, Italy. At their 10th anniversary July 16,.2004 two thousand visitors came to the show in their hometown to celebrate with them!!! Especially for this event they recorded the single "Brilliant day" and presented it first time.

A short while later the band was part of the "X-Mas Vibes Tour 2004" in Germany and Austria. With lots of power they recorded in 2005 their second CD album which came out in 2006 . And now V.O.R (division of Grover Records) will release "Get Ready" on vinyl - right in time for the EASTER SKA JAM 2007 where the SPICY ROOTS will be a hot part of the meal. Are you ready?
