The Skarlatines- Spain

The Skarlatines suceeded in Spain while they were the youngest band playing ska, not only in their area, Madrid, but in Spain and probably in Europe. After a year of being together and having won some local contests they recorded their first album, it was called 'Instrumental 90%', and, as the name says, it was almost an instrumental album with a couple of old jamaican covers.

When Laurel Aiken performed in Madrid in 1997 he was introduced to them and carried a copy of 'Instrumental 90%' release to England. After being listening them for a while he chose them for recording Laurel's 'En Espaņol' album, a project in Spanish language he was planning during the last years. Finally this album was recorded in 1997 and shows all them at their best.

Skarlatines is a well known name in Spain, not only between ska followers, as they've been playing all round for 6 years, many times backing Laurel Aitken, and having performed several times in France too.

Now they are preparing their second album release and will go on tour with Laurel Aitken in Germany soon!
